Rumer Willis To Remove Tattoos Because of Typecasting in Hollywood

Rumer had 22 tattoos at the time she started getting them lasered, and isn’t looking back.

You’d think the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore could land any acting role she wanted, but Rumer Willis revealed that she is starting to get her tattoos removed, because they are “negatively affecting her ability to land acting gigs.”

While Rumer had reportedly removed her Dancing with the Stars tattoo, after her former dance partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, moved on with a new love interest, she is now removing all 22 of her tattoos to diversify her acting roles.

The 30-year-old said, “You can’t necessarily play the girl next door.”

While Willis feels her image might cause her to be type casted, she mentioned the tattoo removal is a cause of a “coming of age realization.”

“I just kind of had a moment where, I got a lot of them when I was very young, and I’m lucky to live in a time where it’s very accessible to be able to take them off,” she said.

She added, “It just didn’t feel like me anymore, so I just thought to change it up.”

The Empire actress spoke on the pain of tattoo removal, especially for her larger pieces. At the AmfAR Gala in October, she showed her lion tattoo on her upper arm, already faded from a few laser sessions. She said, “It’s awful, it’s awful. I’m very lucky that a lot of my big ones were super light… but when people said that it hurt, I just had no idea.”
