Throughout video games, we often first remember the heroes. However, without villains there would be no heroes needed to save the day. The villains of video games are seriously iconic, both those of the past and present. Super Mario Bros.
This video game franchise has introduced many great villains, notably Bowser (introduced in 1985), Donkey Kong (introduced in 1981), Wario (introduced in 1992) and Waluigi (introduced in 2000).
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat was first released in 1992 and one of their most popular villains to date is Mileena, the evil twin of Princess Kitana.
The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda made it’s debut in 1986 via Nintendo and two of their most infamous villains to date are Ganondorf and Majora, the latter which was introduced in 2000.
Pokémon
Pokémon is one of the largest franchises of all time, as a manga, anime and of course, a video game franchise. In Pokémon, some of the main villains include Team Rocket Jessie, James and Meowth, as well as Mewtwo.
Final Fantasy
There have been 15 versions of Final Fantasy since 1987 and along the way, many villains have been introduced. One of the most well-known villains is Sephiroth, the primary antagonist for Final Fantasy VII.
Overwatch
Overwatch made it’s debut in 2016 and it’s since become one of the most popular game on the planet. The game features many distinctive villains, including Widowmaker, Reaper, Symmetra and Sombra.
World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is a massively popular multiplayer online game that made it’s debut in 2004. There are many characters you can take on in the game and several well-known villains, including Gul’dan, Garrosh Hellscream, Garona Halforcen and Deathwing.
Pac-Man
As the oldest game on this list, debuting in 1980, Pac-Man’s design is pretty straight forward. The antagonists to Pac-Man are the ghosts, named Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde.
