Post Malone Announces Nirvana Cover Concert

One of the few good things to come out during the COVID-19 pandemic is the burst of creativity that it has sparked in people while they are stuck at home. It has led to a golden era of hilarious online videos, millions of people who have no business being on TikTok signing up for the app and musicians performing “concerts” from their houses. 

Add Post Malone to that growing list of performers doing shows from home. The popular rapper and face tattoo aficionado has added a bit of a twist to his scheduled performance—he’ll only be covering Nirvana songs. 

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 26 years since Kurt Cobain’s death. TMZ reported that it was this anniversary that inspired Post Malone to perform a set of Nirvana cover songs. 

Post Malone has covered Nirvana while on tour, including playing “All Apologies” at a show in Boston, so expect that tune to be pulled out during the Friday show. 

As with many of the celebrity streams that we’ve seen during this pandemic, Post Malone is using his popularity to raise money for a cause. The stream will include a “donate button” that will allow people to donate to the United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. Funds raised by the organization will go towards a variety of different uses, including ensuring that people stricken by the virus receive proper medical care, accelerating efforts to develop a vaccine and providing equipment to front line health workers. 

We highly recommend giving the concert a watch this Friday. It’s not like you’re going to be leaving the house to do something better. And you have the ability, try to support a good cause during this time.
