Daughter Tattoos School’s Slogan, Dad Demands Tuition Money Back

Antiques Road Trip’s David Harper claims the free advertising for Barnard Castle School calls for some tuition money.

52-year-old BBC antiques expert on Antiques Road Trip, David Harper, paid about $18,300 a year for daughter, Hetti to attend Barnard Castle School. She had been educated there since five-years old.

At 23, Hetti formed a band and wanted a tattoo, quite literally, close to her heart. The tattoo, of her boarding school’s slogan, has been placed across her chest.

Hetti became head of the school’s choir before she left school at 18, then forming her own band, Tiffany Twisted.

David is now demanding Barnard Castle School to return the money spent on his daughter’s tuition fees, feeling that her tattoo stands as permanent free advertising for the school.

As Barnard Castle played such a big part in her music development, Hetti’s tattoo, reads “Parvis imbutus tentabis grandia tutus,” translating to “When you are steeped in little things, you shall safely attempt great things.” According to Unilad, Hetti says she’s already being stopped in the streets to hear the meaning and translation of the chest piece. However, her dad isn’t part of this curious camp, as he says he was “freaked out” when he first saw it.

David said, “I’ve asked if Barnard Castle School would be happy to refund some of the school fees I paid, because my daughter has tattooed the old school motto across her chest.” He adds, “It was just a bit of a shock to me and her mother. After I freaked out at the sight of the tattoo, I was furious that after all the money I’d spent on her education, I really didn’t expect her to end up being a free walking advert for the school.”

Thus, David’s request for the school to sponsor Hetti’s music career and give him back some of the school fees.

He calls his idea “brilliant,” and INKED agrees.

He adds, “I’m hoping that I’ll get some money back from the school and also from Hetti once she makes it.”

Tiffany Twisted released their debut track “Holes In Your Bones” in August, through Payne Records.
