Tattoos of the Bounty Hunters of Star Wars
Enter a wretched world of scum and villainy with The Mandalorian
Star Wars nerds have had November 12th circled on their calendar for months. This is the day that the Disney + streaming service goes live, and along with it the premiere of “The Mandalorian.”
As the first live-action television series set in the Star Wars universe expectations are higher than Anakin Skywalker’s midi-chlorian count. Set about five years after the Empire crumbles after my guy Lando blew up the second Death Star, “The Mandalorian” will follow the adventures of a bounty hunter wearing a famous set of armor. Before you got too excited, no, it’s not Boba Fett.
Pablo Pascal (“Narcos,” “Game of Thrones”) plays the titular character as he navigates a galaxy scrambling to fill the void left by the Empire’s demise. Honestly, that’s about all we know so far. In the various trailers that have been released, The Mandalorian has yet to take off his helmet. But he has had some badass fighting scenes, which is what Star Wars fans have been craving for decades. You’re led to believe that Boba Fett was such an intergalactic badass, but he went out like a total chump. Watching a similar character raise some hell will go a long way towards righting that wrong.
Given its star-studded cast, “The Mandalorian” should be able to deliver on all those lofty expectations. The cast includes Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”), Carl Weathers (“Rocky”), Gina Carano (“Deadpool”), Nick Nolte (“48 Hrs.”) and Werner frickin’ Herzog!
Given the devotion people have towards the Star Wars universe, we’re guessing that there will be a whole slew of people sporting tattoos based on this show by the end of the week. But, for now, why don’t we look back at the fearsome bounty hunters that we’ve already met. You’ll definitely recognize the other Mandalorians—Jango Fett and Boba Fett—but we’ve also got tattoos of Bossk, IG-88, Greedo and more. Sadly, no Dengar tattoos. Why won’t anybody get a permanent tribute to that weird, bandaged goofball?
