Celebrating the Cowboys From Hell with The Book of Pantera
Pantera is without a doubt one of the most influential and important metal bands of all time. Prior to becoming the force they are remembered as today, Pantera spent almost a decade playing music that would be placed more into the Glam Metal camp. It wasn’t until their major label debut, “Cowboys from Hell,” where Pantera started to become the groove metal band we all know and love.
Early on, the band had some lineup changes, as most bands do. But once Philip Anselmo took over on vocals in 1986 the core group was assembled, consisting of Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul. The four would go on to produce six albums together, including the 1988 release “Power Metal,” which the band would go on to mostly disavow along with the rest of their pre-major label work.
Every Pantera album once they signed to a major label—”Cowboys from Hell” (1990), “Vulgar Display of Power” (1992), “Far Beyond Driven” (1994), “The Great Southern Trendkill” (1996) and “Reinventing the Steel” (2000)—is a classic metal album.
In celebration of everything Pantera, Revolver is releasing The Book of Pantera. The 100 page collector’s edition magazine comes with five separate covers, each celebrating one of the band’s landmark albums, all collected in a box set. Inside, the issue contains interviews with all four band members and retraces the amazing and, ultimately, tragic history of Pantera.
Of course, you’re going to want to listen to something while reading, aren’t you? Revolver also has special-edition vinyl to go along with each Book of Pantera, giving you the ability to pair each Pantera album with the coinciding cover.
Or, if you’re one of the super fans sporting a Pantera tattoo like the folks below, you’ll likely be most interested in the Ultimate Collector’s Bundle.
Once you’re done enjoying the following gallery of Pantera tattoos, head over to Revolver and spend some of that Christmas money on something you actually love—Pantera.
