Happy Father’s Day to Tattooed Dads
Celebrate Father's Day with your tattooed dad
This Sunday, June 21st, is Father’s Day. Father’s Day was established in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd. Dodd was the daughter of Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart and she created the holiday as a woman who’d grown up with a single dad after her mother died in childbirth. The holiday was initially observed on June 5th, her father’s birthday, but became an official holiday when President Nixon signed a presidential proclamation—declaring the third Sunday of June to be Father’s Day.
There are plenty of traditions families have for observing Father’s Day—from making a home cooked meal to fishing on the lake to watching football. My tradition is taking a hike with my family, which began when I was young and has be practiced ever since. In honor of all the fathers out there, we’ve collected some of our favorite tattooed dads from around the world.
