We Forgot Jeffree Star Has an Extremely Controversial Tattoo
Did you know Jeffree Star has an offensive tattoo on his chest?
Jeffree Star is one of the most popular beauty influencers on YouTube, founding a successful cosmetics brand and having a net worth of over $50 million. However, despite his incredible success in the online and beauty worlds, his career has come with many controversies.
From accusations of racism to his very public feud with fellow cosmetics CEO and tattoo enthusiast Kat Von D, Star frequently finds himself in hot water. However, perhaps one of his most startling controversies has been hiding under our nose all this time.
In Jeffree’s tattoo tour, he shows off his chest tattoo, however, something is missing within the design. For the video, Star used makeup to cover script below his Kurt Cobain portrait, which reads, “Rape Me,” in a banner. “Rape Me” is the name of a 1993 single by Nirvana and was featured on their In Utero album. The song is an anti-rape anthem written from the perspective of a rape survivor to raise awareness about sexism.
Although many are able to connect the words “Rape Me” to Cobain, in 2019 it’s easy for this piece to get lost in translation and why Star covers the tattoo in the majority of his photos where it might be visible.
While we initially thought Star had lasered off the first word of this tattoo, we later discovered that it’s still visible in his advertisement campaign for Jeffree Star Cosmetics line of glosses, which was posted less than one month ago.
What do you think of Jeffree Star’s controversial tattoo? Do you think he should have it removed? Let us know your thoughts on this story in the comments section.
